She lived from 26 August 1910 to 5 September 1997. Anjez Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, whose name is pronounced [aznd bjadiu], was born in Skopje, which was then a part of the Ottoman Empire. She left for Ireland after eighteen years, followed by India, where she spent the majority of her life. On September 4, 2016, Mother Teresa of Calcutta was declared a saint.
